Funded Childcare – Supporting Families to Access Quality Provision
From September 2025, the funded childcare offer has been extended to provide up to 1140 hours of funded childcare for eligible working families with children from 9 months old.
All 3 and 4-year-old children, regardless of parental income, are entitled to 570 funded hours from the term after their third birthday.
We welcome the expansion of government-funded hours, as this offers valuable support to working families. However, while the government sets the funding framework, independent nurseries must ensure that funding arrangements support a sustainable and high-quality provision.
At our nursery, we offer full-day care only (08:00 – 18:00). This structure allows us to provide consistency, stability, and a richer educational experience throughout the day.

Our Commitment to Quality and Sustainability

We are deeply committed to maintaining the highest standards of care, education, and wellbeing for our children.
To ensure this, we have carefully calculated our daily consumables contribution so that we can sustainably deliver:
-
High-quality early years education aligned with the EYFS
-
A stable and experienced staff team
-
Safe, well-resourced learning environments
-
Enrichment activities and specialist sessions
-
Ongoing reinvestment into our nursery

Our Food Provision
A significant part of our commitment to quality is our food provision.
We provide freshly prepared meals daily and source our ingredients from high-quality suppliers. The majority of our food is organic, and we deliberately choose the best local supermarkets and trusted suppliers available to ensure excellent nutritional standards.
Maintaining this level of food quality carries a significantly higher cost, but we believe that children deserve nutritious, responsibly sourced meals that support their health, development, and wellbeing.

Daily Consumables Contribution (Per Child, Per Day)
In line with funding regulations, we provide a clear breakdown of our daily consumables contribution:
Breakfast – £3.50
Lunch – £6.00
Dinner – £5.20
Snacks – £3.30
Extra Activities – £4.70
Digital Platforms & Parent Communication Systems – £4.00
This contribution reflects the actual cost of delivering high-quality meals, enrichment activities, and the digital systems that support children’s learning documentation, parent communication, and safeguarding compliance.

Stretching Funding Across 52 Weeks
For working families who purchase full-day care across the full year, we apply government funding to reduce fees where eligibility applies.
To ensure families benefit from a consistent monthly fee, we stretch funded hours across 52 weeks. This allows families to spread the cost evenly throughout the year, rather than facing higher charges during non-funded periods.
Invoices for funded weeks will clearly reflect:
-
The local authority funded hours applied
-
The cost of consumables
-
Any additional hours beyond funded entitlement
Holiday weeks will reflect our private daily fee rate, as funding is stretched across 52 weeks of the year.

Ensuring Long-Term Sustainability
Across England, nurseries are facing increasing financial pressures due to:
-
Rising operational costs
-
Increased employer National Insurance contributions
-
Energy and utility increases
-
Staffing recruitment and retention challenges
Research from the National Day Nurseries Association highlights that many nurseries are closing due to funding gaps between government rates and actual delivery costs.
To continue delivering the high-quality provision that families expect, it is essential that our fee structure reflects the real cost of maintaining standards — particularly in areas such as food quality, staffing stability, enrichment, and resources.
Our priority remains the wellbeing, safety, and development of every child in our care.
